Like macaroni and cheese, Kelly and Brian just belong together. When we first met Kelly and her mom last year we instantly clicked. Brian was working, so we didn’t get to meet him at first, but we knew any guy marrying a girl as great as Kelly must be pretty great himself, and one day after an e-shoot down in Manhattan, we met up with the two of them for dinner to get to know him a little better, and as they say, the rest is history. We started their Scott Kretschmann Photography experience with an amazing session on their home island of Manhattan. This was one of our favorite e-sessions ever, full of color, light and lots of fun. Once we had photographed their engagement session we knew that their wedding would be an amazing event and we weren’t wrong!

We started off getting ready at Kelly’s parents’ house, where the girls finished off hair and makeup. The bridal party was so relaxed and fun it really set the tone for the whole day. While Scott headed off to capture Brian getting ready, Lisa stayed with the bride and her girls as they traveled to the Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake in Averill Park, just outside of Albany. We LOVE shooting at Crooked Lake because the gorgeous lakeside venue and their staff are amazing. Big props to Stephanie and Janice, who trusted Lisa’s artistic vision and moved a COUCH out to the edge of the water. They seriously went above and beyond all day to make Kelly and Brian’s day special (as they always do). After the ladies helped Kelly get dressed, her mom came in to see her for the first time. It was such a beautiful, touching moment!

Have you ever wondered why you need two photographers at a wedding? Well, wonder no more. This was Lisa’s shot as Kelly was walking towards her father, getting ready to walk down the aisle:

We think every couple who is considering marriage should renovate a house together. It is a test of your commitment, patience and ability to work together. Did we mention patience? Abby and Jack are a testimony that this is a true statement as they have been renovating their home together for four years. Their home, however, is not just any home, but a historic home in Johnsonville with a breathtaking view and amazing history. It was only right that the home that cemented their love was the venue for their wedding day. Their yard with its gorgeous hilltop views housed the ceremony that proclaimed them man and wife, while a backyard tent was the site of the biggest party that Johnsonville, NY has probably ever seen.

Although it was a rainy week it stopped that Saturday and the sun shone down to deliver a perfect day that couldn’t have been any more beautiful. We started with Abby and her girls getting ready upstairs while Jack and the boys grabbed drinks and got ready downstairs. It was off to a short and sweet little ceremony (with some amazing light I might add) and then picture time! With a fun bridal party in tow and a beautiful view we were off! We got some fun bridal party pictures and then it was time for Abby and Jack’s session. They really value photography so they made sure to give us ample time to create our magic. Trust me when I say that if you give us enough time, we will be able to get some incredible pictures. These couple portraits are some of our favorites and the best part is that they were game for a sunset and afterdark session where we got some more incredible pictures (check back for part 2 to see those!). You will absolutely fall in love with Abby and Jack after seeing their beautiful wedding day – you have been warned! Story time. Abby really loves antiques. Completely adores them. For years, whenever she visited her local antique shop, she would go directly for a gorgeous antique bottle and look at it. She coveted this bottle, but thought she could never afford it. Well, guess what Jack got her as her wedding gift? Abby knew what it was just by feeling it through the wrapping paper and the tears of joy came almost immediately. It was a great thing to witness:

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the pictures yesterday of Erica and Kameron’s beautiful wedding ceremony at the gorgeous Inn at Erlowest in Lake George . Here is the thing about Erica and Kameron – they are a LOT of fun, and this shines through in all their pictures. Since we were in Lake George you know we had to take pictures on the dock (the Minne Ha-Ha even paid a visit) in the beautiful light before Erica and Kameron headed off to their reception.

What follows are some of our favorite couple portraits we have ever taken. They trusted us completely and in the end it paid off with some gorgeous pictures they will cherish for years to come. We can’t wait for them to see all of their pictures at their cocktail viewing in few weeks! We are definitely picking out our favorites for wall prints to hang in the studio and we can’t wait to show them off.

After an amazing portait session by the lake, we hopped on the Albany Aquaducks trolley and headed up to the reception. Soul session was there making some stupid noise (in the words of the amazing Garland Nelson) and getting the party going. There were some beautiful toasts, dances, and lots of joy. Of course, we had to take them out for the signature After Dark Session and get a little breather from the dance floor for a couple of minutes. It was such and amazing event and it was great being there to capture everything.

Tehra and Juan are one of those couples that you are drawn to the instant that you meet them. They have such different personalities, but they just work perfectly together. We have rarely seen as much expressed love and emotion on a wedding day as these two showed us. From their First Look all the way to the last dance, Tehra and Juan expressed so much joy on this day that we just know the rest of their lives will be filled with an amazing deep, abiding love.

Tehra and Juan had a wedding full of amazing details and special touches. Of course with Taia Younis of Inspired Occasions as your wedding planner you are sure to have a beautiful wedding day right down to the last detail, and they really thought of everything. From the movie ticket save the date to the art deco invitation, this was a wedding full of rich colors and beauty. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed as part of their family and everyone was so warm and inviting.

We absolutely LOVE the little details like the custom dress hangar. Ladies, this is a cool little detail you can add your day that adds SO MUCH to your dress pictures!

Tehra’s engagement ring was really awesome and unique – it had a HUGE ruby, and I think this ring may have given Kate Middleton a run for her money!

Tehra and Juan had probably the most amazing first look we have ever seen. It was the most emotion we have ever seen on a wedding day way more than even a bride walking down the aisle. We had SUCH a hard time picking which photos to blog from their first look, so we’ve decided that it will get its own blog post soon! For now, here are some of our favorites. Words can’t do justice to these emotions, so just watch their faces and enjoy!

After the first look was over, it was time to head off to the Empire State Plaza for some photos. First, the bridal party for a little fun. We’ll get back to them later.

It was SO hot on the Plaza that day. Can’t really tell if it was from the sun or the smoking hot couple though.

From there, they walked to the Palace Theater together to prepare for the ceremony. Suddenly, the entire crowd, including the Bride and Groom, burst into song. I think all of downtown may have started hearing “Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married.” It was awesome.

Being with Dan and Meredith is, as they say the south, like drinking sweet tea on a hot day. They are cool, refreshingly honest and all over full of sweetness, not only for each other, but also for everyone around them.  While this day was a wonderful day for them, it was obvious that they planned it to be a wonderful time for all their family and friends. They made sure to take care of their guests with bottled water before the ceremony (it was a little toasty!), a great cocktail hour, amazing food, and a welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. They had a really beautiful interfaith ceremony celebrating their Jewish and Christian faiths just outside of the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs. There was a ketubah signing, blessings in both hebrew and english, as well as a unity candle.  Their Rabbi and Pastor worked together so well, it seemed like they did this kind of wedding all the time. It wasn’t your normal wedding though, it was uniquely Meredith and Dan, and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Each part of the ceremony was well though out and personal to the couple. By far our favorite part of any day is learning more about our couples and their lives. We learned so much about Dan and Meredith from the way that their families welcomed us into their lives and all of the very personal and beautiful touches they included in the day.

We love it when our couples do a first look, not only does it let you get your photos done ahead of time so you can enjoy your cocktail hour, but it really does get the best reactions from the couple. You don’t have to worry about having a really emotional moment in front of your family and friends, instead, you get to share it with each other!

A few, quiet moments together. It’s such a rarity on the wedding day, these two really enjoyed it!

I missed you guys last week! This wedding season has been a little hectic and busy for a reason. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying cool. As for me I am working on some styled shoots and a styled Trash the Dress Session. If it ever cools down I think we will be going to the Saratoga County fair soon. What is your favorite summertime activity?

Without further ado, here are some cute little wedding items that make me think of summer:

Parasols are awesome AND they have a purpose. They look cute in pictures and they keep the sun out of your face, not to mention that you can get them in about half a dozen colors and designs. I can’t lie, I am a little bit obsessed with all of the different designs and colors available at the Paper Latern Store. They have plain parasols, ones with designs, and ones with scalloped edges. You can get parasols that match your wedding colors and your style. They look great in pictures and they keep you cool in the summer heat.

The parasols will keep you and your bridal party cool, but what about the guests? For guest favors in the summer I am loving these cute palm sized fans from Accent The Party. They are handmade from woven buri and perfect for a hot summer wedding. I love that they are compact and lightweight so they’re easy for guests to carry and palm sized so they don’t take up a lot of storage space in “the wedding room” every bride typically has in her house.

Of course last but not least, the best way to keep guests cool in the summer is to make sure they stay hydrated. If you want something a little more sophisticated and better looking than plastic water bottles, you can’t go wrong with the sleek cobalt blue look of Saratoga Spring Water glass bottles. You can get sparkling or non sparkling water in these beautiful water bottles that are perfect for a wedding on a hot summer night.

I hope everyone had a great July 4th holiday! We have been enjoying spending time with our family and watching fireworks. I have been hard at work finding pretty wedding items for you to enjoy! I pull my inspiration from a variety of places and I love how many people have been emailing me cool items they think would look great on the blog. I am glad I am not the only one who is wedsessed (that is wedding obsessed for those of you who don’t speak Lisa lingo). I hope you enjoy these weeks featured items!

As most brides and some grooms know it is hard to keep track of all of your wedding inspiration which is why I love Pinterest. Not only does it have the easiest interface ever it also has some amazing ideas. I have been using it to organize vow renewal ideas and decorate our future dream home. Once you are a member you can friend and invite other people to become a member. Don’t forget to add your favorite photographer:) Just join trust me it is awesomesauce dipped in magic and rolled in sprinkles!

Prepare to fall in love! I love, love, love etsy as most of you know. I discovered The Headband Shoppe which has tons of wedding accessories featuring feathers. I love peacock feathers in particular so I feel in love with this Tuscany sash featuring lovely peacock feathers which you can use to accessorize a bridal gown or bridesmaid dress. I provides a lovely little pop of color to your bridal outfit!

Last but not least is this cute little beauty from Babbs Boutique. Not only can you get bow to match your color but the lining comes in a coordinating cotton print. I love this not just for the bride but as a gift for the bridesmaids to use on the wedding. They are lovely and go with a variety of dress styles and did I mention they are totally cute??

First of all, Happy Columbus Day to everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying their day, particularly those of you who are lucky enough to have the day off. It’s beginning to get a little chilly here in upstate NY, and that means that the wedding season is starting to come to a close. We are working really hard to get out last few weddings knocked out, so you’ll see plenty of new weddings posted here soon. For now, while you wait, we wanted to give you a little teaser shot for one of our weddings a week ago. The blog has been busy all last week, but we finally have a day now where we can post a teaser shot from Dawn and Jamie’s wedding right here in Troy, NY. They had their wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Troy, which we loved because it was only ten minutes from our house! Unfortunately for Dawn and Jamie, the weather was not being very cooperative that day. Their beautiful outdoor lawn ceremony was not to be, so everything had to take place inside. That didn’t make the day any less special though. We were racing the sunlight for their couples portraits and unfortunately we lost, so we had to pair their images with our normal After Dark Sessions – we did get a couple of AWESOME images and wanted to show one of them off to you today. Check this one out, and we will have lots more to show you later!

Angela and Richard are really a photographer’s dream. They really understand the value of good photography and how important it is both to their wedding day. We love it when we have a couple like this and we can really blow them away with our final product. We’re hoping to begin that here tonight!

We met up early and Angela’s house for her bridal prep, and Lisa stayed with them to get some awesome detail and getting ready shots while I drove down to catch some shots of Richard and the guys. After that it was off to the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury, NY. Following a beautiful ceremony, we took the bridal party and family down to Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs for some fomal shots, as well as a few fun shots with just the bridal party and one of our favorite Romantics Sessions ever with just Angela and Richard. After that, it was off to the Saratoga / Wilton Elks for the reception. We’ll tell you a lot more about that in the second blog post for their wedding, which you can all see this sunday night at 5 pm. For now, we’re going to show off some of our favorite shots from before the wedding, the ceremony, and our session in Congress Park. Enjoy!

Yet another one of Lisa’s awesome shoe shots. Angela actually had TWO pairs of shoes, one for the ceremony, and one for dancing. These were her silver dancing shoes. They looked awesome!

This was definitely a huge do-it-yourself undertaking for Angela, as all her invitations and stationary were handmade and hand embossed. She did an amazing job – check them out!

After that, it was off to Congress Park! I’m not sure what the guys are doing here. We asked them to cheer. They apparently had other ideas.
