Sam and Nick booked us a couple of months ago for their Century House wedding. We immediately started planning for an engagement session and they were lucky enough to get one of the nicest days in October (and with our schedule in the fall, those are REALLY hard to come by). It was sunny, 80 degrees with radiant blue skies which we are now reminiscing about as winter begins! We hit up their apartment complex first to hang out with their two dogs and then we headed to Prospect Mountain in Lake George for some pretty fall foliage. Even though it was a little tough climbing around on rocks with our gear on the pictures were so worth it. The view from the mountain was unbelievable and it was great to shoot up there. Once we were done we headed down the mountain to shoot on the docks of Lake George. We love the light during sunset on the docks, and the view with the mountains and water in the background is always amazing.

We really enjoyed getting to hang out with Sam and Nick because they are so much fun, not to mention that they treated us to Ben and Jerry’s at the end of the session! We even got to hear about their Christmas time proposal at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. We can’t wait for their wedding in May, and more importantly we can’t wait to share it with you all. We hope you enjoy the pictures!

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the pictures yesterday of Erica and Kameron’s beautiful wedding ceremony at the gorgeous Inn at Erlowest in Lake George . Here is the thing about Erica and Kameron – they are a LOT of fun, and this shines through in all their pictures. Since we were in Lake George you know we had to take pictures on the dock (the Minne Ha-Ha even paid a visit) in the beautiful light before Erica and Kameron headed off to their reception.

What follows are some of our favorite couple portraits we have ever taken. They trusted us completely and in the end it paid off with some gorgeous pictures they will cherish for years to come. We can’t wait for them to see all of their pictures at their cocktail viewing in few weeks! We are definitely picking out our favorites for wall prints to hang in the studio and we can’t wait to show them off.

After an amazing portait session by the lake, we hopped on the Albany Aquaducks trolley and headed up to the reception. Soul session was there making some stupid noise (in the words of the amazing Garland Nelson) and getting the party going. There were some beautiful toasts, dances, and lots of joy. Of course, we had to take them out for the signature After Dark Session and get a little breather from the dance floor for a couple of minutes. It was such and amazing event and it was great being there to capture everything.

Erica and Kameron-Thank you so much for allowing us to capture your special day and be a small part of the beginning of your life together. We wish you many years of happiness.

You may remember Erica and Kameron’s very Saratoga engagement session from the track and Congress Park here and here. Erica caused quite a stir on the blog with the shoes she was rocking at their engagement session and she certainly didn’t disappoint on her wedding day either! She had beautiful shoes, an amazing detailed dress and a handsome groom to boot. Erica and Kameron love to laugh and that is pretty much what they did throughout their wedding day.

Erica and Kam got married at The Inn at Erlowest on a beautiful day that really could not have been more perfect. Their ceremony took place down by Lake George complete with pretty blue skies, fluffy white clouds and the occasional boater. Their ceremony was deeply personal and reflected their love of family and friends. After the ceremony, we walked over to the dock and took some amazing shots right by the water and even managed to get some with the Minnie Ha-Ha (for those of you who have been to Lake George, you will understand, the rest of you have to wait for part 2)! We hope you enjoy the pictures and come back soon to see Part 2.

The ladies at Lily Saratoga hooked Erica up with this AMAZING dress! The detail down the back was just to die for.

And of course, the shoes. Erica can rock a pair of heels like no one else!

Erica had the most diverse bridal party we’ve ever shot, with her mom as the Matron of Honor, two bridesmaids, three junior bridesmaids, and even two bridesmen!

Katelyn and Peter have known each other since they met in elementary school while he was playing the fiddle with a “dirty rat tail” she recalls and she as the girl who “could sing anything.” They started dating in high school and were together so much they gained the name “Petelyn”.  Even in college Katelyn moved to Philadelphia so they could be closer than a 9 hour drive.  Prepare yourselves for the cutest proposal story ever as told by Katelyn (it is a novel but the ending is so worth it):

I went to school in Philadelphia and lived right near the art museum. One of the things we loved to do was walk our dogs over to the art museum, up the “rocky” steps and there is a fountain at the top that they dogs used to go swimming in. When we were in our last year of college Pete and I moved in together in the town that he went to school in which meant I had to commute to school. For our 7 year dating anniversary (which was in February) we decided for old times we wanted to go for a walk down next to the river and my old apt in Philly then to the art museum steps to take some pics. There had been a snow storm for two days when we were supposed to go so there was snow, it was windy and cold but for some reason Pete insisted that we still go a couple days late.So Feb 3rd, 2007 (superbowl sunday) we headed down to Philly.  When we got down to the city, put all our layers on and started our walk around the river. It was bitterly cold but we were laughing, joking and talking-we were having fun regardless. Actually at one point we went into the public restrooms just because they were heated and we could thaw a little. During our walk I turned to him and said “Even though it’s really cold out this walk was a lot of fun.” Pete immediately comes back with. “The walk isn’t over so how can you say it was fun?” I was very caught off guard and didn’t understand why that was a bad thing to say but oh well, I kind of just shrugged it off. A few minutes went by and I kept thinking about his response.I had to out smartass him and say “So far on this walk I am having fun”. Again he comes back at me with “Well, its not over so you don’t know how fun it is going to be.” I am finally really weirded out by these comments and ask him “Are you planning on pushing me into the river or what? Why can I not say that I am having fun?” Well, that seemed to shut him up. So we continued out walk up the art museum steps and got our camera out to take pics. As I mentioned before we were completely by ourselves because it was so cold out so we were placing the camera and setting the self timer. Everytime we took a picture Pete had some complaint about it…we weren’t centered, we were cut off, we didn’t get enough of the city, etc. Finally by some miracle the was another couple as crazy as we were taking a walk in this ridiculous weather. I asked Pete if we could have them take our picture..he was very hesitant but agreed. This nice older couple took two pics for us then continued up the steps. Pete took a look at the pictures and didn’t like either one of them. I had no idea why he was being sooooo picky about these. He wanted to try to take the pics again ourselves. After a little back a forth I told him that we had to wait until the couple left then he had ONE more chance so he better get it right. I was frozen to the core and could not be out there any longer. After the couple walked out of sight I took the camera one last time, brought it up a couple of step from where we were standing, paid very careful attention to all of the complaints he had had about the previous pics and tried my best to avoid them all. I set the timer and ran back down to stand next to Pete. As I was reaching to lock arms with him he was fumbling with something in his pocket…all I could think was OH MY GOD HE IS GOING TO MAKE ME TAKE ANOTHER PICTURE! but before I knew what was going on he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was so cold, so excited, in shock and felt so terrible about my emotions just prior to this that i was just staring at the ring. Of course I said “Yes!” but was stil just staring at it, Pete says “Do you want to put it on?” The best part of the whole story and the reason for all that hard work for the perfect picture…we have it in a photo!  Its awesome and I love it!

…and here we are, over four years later. These two are celebrating their third wedding anniversary, and we wanted to capture their love with a few amazing images. We started off in Troy, where we all live, for a fun session at Prospect Park before heading off to the Top of the World Golf Club in Lake George.  While at the park, we just had to hit the playground!

We asked them to kiss while swinging, jokingly. We never thought they would actually pull it off! That’s Peter, putting that great RPI graduate education to work!

We can never resist the merry go round shot when we get the chance.

Then it was off to Lake George. We saw the most amazing golden light at the dock and had to take advantage of it:

We had such a good time shooting this session and loved getting to know these two a little better. Since this was an anniversary session, we wanted to know what their thoughts were on marriage so far:

Katelyn:What I have learned about marriage…well to me it is the absolute best friendship I have and will ever have. He still surprises me with how well he knows me. We can and do talk about absolutely everything. It is also a work-in-progress, constantly evolving with our ever changing circumstances and emotions. The ability to discuss and compromise are probably the two of the most important tools for us as a couple. I love him with every fiber of my being and as I have told him before it goes much further than my physical 5 foot 1/2 inch!

Pete: I have learned that I can still impress her and her me – I don’t think that will ever change.  We know each other well enough that we can communicate without words sometimes. We are pretty good at compromising, and because of this (and I have to be mathematical about it, sorry) our sum is greater than the parts.  I love that fact that we can still be silly, fool around and act like kids (hence the playground pics) and I hope we never lose that playful aspect of our relationship (I don’t think we will)!

As it’s now after midnight, it’s actually Erin and Matt’s wedding day! These two won the 104.9 The Cat Bridal Idol contest and will be having their wedding tonight at the Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake tonight in a beautiful lakefront ceremony. We just shot their engagement session a few weeks ago and wanted to show off the rest of their photos that we didn’t feature on the blog in honor of their wedding. Erin and Matt recently won the Bridal Idol contest from 104.9 The Cat, and it’s been a whirlwind few months for them to get their wedding planned, and it’s all coming to a close at the Crooked Lake House in just a few short weeks! We finally got to shoot their engagement session last week and wanted to show off a few of our favorite shots. It is really tough to get an engagement session done within months of a wedding, much less weeks, but this spring in upstate NY has just not cooperated with us. We were so lucky to get a few hours where it didn’t rain for us to be able to get these photos for them, as it had been POURING all week. We had to reschedule so many sessions over the past few weeks, so we are really happy that we managed to sneak in a few dry hours with Matt and Erin. We started off our session at the beautiful Highlands Castle overlooking Lake George, and later made our way into town for some more fun – we’ll share those with you later, but for now, here’s some of the great stuff we got around the castle. Special thanks to Joanna Romanzo of Lipstick n’ Lashes for the awesome hair and makeup!

Here it is, the last engagement session for our 2010 couples. The next engagement session you see here will start off the 2011 wedding season! We had a great time during this session up on the shores of Lake George, NY. It proved to be an amazing backdrop with the Adirondack Mountains rising at the other side of the lake. It was a beautiful night with an amazing couple, and we are really excited to share this session with you. We’re really excited for their wedding this fall in Saratoga Springs, NY, and we already know that we will get some amazing photos with these two. It’s been a little while since Angela and Richard’s teaser from their engagement session, but these images are worth the wait! Their Saratoga Springs wedding is a short time away, and we are almost as excited about it as they are. They met up with us at beautiful Lake George, NY at the base of the Adirondacks for their engagement session, and it made a perfect backdrop to capture this awesome couple. Check out some of our favorite images from the session, with more to come tomorrow!
