Well folks, we’re finally almost caught up with our fall engagement session backlog – we had so many sessions in October and November, it was INSANE! We definitely won’t complain about being busy though, as we had some great sessions with some amazing couples. Fall in Upstate NY is always our most beautiful time of year, so it’s no surprise that it makes the perfect backdrop for engagement photos. Anyway, on to Kate and Kevin’s session!

Kate and Kevin are very in sync as a couple, which is something that just kind of happens when you have been dating since high school. Their first kiss story has to be the best one we’ve had yet. It was their one month anniversary, and Kevin said he really wanted to give her a kiss, so he opened her hand and placed a Hershey’s Kiss in it. Smooth huh? Suffice it to say he got his kiss shortly thereafter. That definitely tops the list of best first kiss stories! Like all good romance stories they kept in touch through the time and distance of college with Kevin making the long 5 hour trips from Rochester to White Plains every few weeks to see Kate.

After Kate graduated law school and passed the bar (this apparently a test and not a place to drink) they moved to Cortland. After living together for two years Kevin decided that it was time to seal the deal with a ring!  It started with a trip to a bed and breakfast in Ithaca where little did Kate know he was a man with a plan.  After asking for her parents for permission and having her mom try on the ring (how cute is that?) his plans were in place.  Kevin actually texted Kate’s parents throughout the proposal so they could be involved.  After a trip to the spa he took her to a great restaurant complete with roses and after getting back to the bed and breakfast, he got down on one knee and asked her if she would do him the honor of being his wife. I think you can guess what she said!

Which brings us to their engagement session in Albany. After much brainstorming and discussion we decided on a trip to downtown Albany and then a super secret spot where we love to shoot. Kate made a stop by Lipstick and Lashes (ladies, for your wedding hair and makeup, you want to use them, trust us!) to get her hair and makeup done then we were ready for an unforgettable engagement session. It was a little chilly, but the light was perfect and we still had a blast and got some awesome photos. Check them out and be sure to vote for your favorites by showing them a little “love”

Gentlemen, if you don’t know how to properly dip your brides and brides to be, you need to take lessons from Kevin. He rocked it. So smooth.

You know those couples that are just cute together? You know so cute that you just have to go awwww? Yep, that is Yvonne and Billy for sure. They have been together for a long time and even have a cutie pie little boy together. They are excellent parents and an adorable couple to boot. What more could you want? When we met them a few months ago in the studio Yvonne already had a place picked out for her engagement session. She was really on her game! We even let Billy incorporate his cowboy hat in a few of the pictures. I think we can all agree it worked out for some cute pictures.

The Barns of Nipmoose are a really cool historical property in Buskirk, NY. The barns are Scottish Barn, the German Barn and the corn crib all dating from the 18th century. In the surrounding field there is an Aspen Grove and corn field, plus we had gorgeous fall foliage as far as the eye could see. It is a beautiful property and would be beautiful for a wedding. When we arrived at the barns it was cold, windy, cloudy and threatening rain but Yvonne and Billy were troopers and they walked all over the property with us. As soon as we went inside the Scottish Barn to start shooting though it started to pour and not just pour but thunder and lightning as well. Just as we thought we were done for the day, the sun peeked out from below the clouds and we got some AMAZING shots of the sunset and rain at the same time. Yvonne and Billy didn’t mind getting a little wet for the shots, and they were so worth it!  Overall the session ended up amazing and of course with such a cute couple our job was easy.

Yvonne and Billy are getting married at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy next August but this won’t be any other ballroom wedding. This will be a ballroom extravaganza with hay bales and all types of cool touches. We are from the south so this will definitely be familiar territory for us. From meeting with them a few times we can tell they are so excited for their wedding day and it will be filled with beautiful and memorable details. We hope you enjoy some of our favorites from this really fun e-session!

We are so excited to post this session! When we met Michelle and Mike we hit it off right away. In fact our consult lasted until midnight, and you could tell we’d be really close pretty much instantly. Michelle has actually been helping us out as our assistant at our photo booth this fall as well! Lisa loves working with our brides to plan their engagement sessions, so she had been planning this one for a while. When Michelle mentioned wanting a fall session, Lisa automatically went into planning a very fall engagement session. We thought nothing would scream fall in Upstate NY more than a session at Indian Ladder Farms with its amazing apple orchard.

Michelle and Mike are doctoral students in sociology who met at UAlbany, so they are extremely busy and we are lucky that they managed to find some time to squeeze in a session. We think it was well worth it though for their day off and we managed to get just a peek of some pretty fall foliage. It was a holiday weekend so the place was crowded but we managed to shoot around it and you can’t even tell that the place was packed. Not only did we get to munch on some apples but we crawled in apple crates and drank apple cider. It doesn’t get much more fall than that! Lisa also decided they should do apple themed save the date pictures, which we absolutely love.

We are so excited to shoot Michelle and Mike’s wedding in May at Riverstone Manor. We can’t wait to meet all of their family and friends and be a part of their special day. Sam and Nick booked us a couple of months ago for their Century House wedding. We immediately started planning for an engagement session and they were lucky enough to get one of the nicest days in October (and with our schedule in the fall, those are REALLY hard to come by). It was sunny, 80 degrees with radiant blue skies which we are now reminiscing about as winter begins! We hit up their apartment complex first to hang out with their two dogs and then we headed to Prospect Mountain in Lake George for some pretty fall foliage. Even though it was a little tough climbing around on rocks with our gear on the pictures were so worth it. The view from the mountain was unbelievable and it was great to shoot up there. Once we were done we headed down the mountain to shoot on the docks of Lake George. We love the light during sunset on the docks, and the view with the mountains and water in the background is always amazing.

We really enjoyed getting to hang out with Sam and Nick because they are so much fun, not to mention that they treated us to Ben and Jerry’s at the end of the session! We even got to hear about their Christmas time proposal at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. We can’t wait for their wedding in May, and more importantly we can’t wait to share it with you all. We hope you enjoy the pictures!

Kristin and Ira are one of those cool couples you want to be friends with as soon as you meet them. We spent our entire session with them laughing. They were relaxed and easy going which made their session a breeze to shoot, not to mention that they have some serious chemistry.  Once you meet them you can see why they fell in love and how incredible they are together. These two really wanted a nice upstate fall session, and they came up from their home in Queens to shoot with us in Saratoga Springs. I swear this is the year of having couples that live down in New York City and are getting married up here. We could seriously throw a big party down in NYC sometime with just our brides and grooms that live there!

I wish we could take some credit for helping plan the creative locations in this session but that was all Kristin. Not only did she find a cool bookstore to shoot in but she also planned all their outfits! Kristin is really creative and made the session so unique to them as a couple.  We had never gotten to shoot in a bookstore so it allowed us a chance to be creative and try some new things. We started at Kristin’s parents house where we took pictures in shirts that Ira had designed and printed through his screen printing company for valentines day while he was saving money to propose, and the shirts just had to make an appearance at their engagement shoot, along with a matching balloon! Then we stopped by the bookstore and then we finished at Moreau Lake State Park. All in all we got a great range of locations and outfits.

Kristin and Ira are planning are planning a beautiful Canfield Casino wedding in October of next year and with all of their creativity it will be an event to remember. They are an amazing couple who love to laugh and know how to have a good time so we are sure that they will have an amazing event. Without further ado, we hope you enjoy their pictures!

I’m pretty sure this was a reaction to one of Lisa’s jokes, but we were all laughing for this entire session. It was so much fun!

The fall color was so awesome. The fall left us way too soon with a snowstorm, but it was great while it lasted. There’s nothing like fall in Upstate New York.

We had to close out with a couple of shots after the sun set. The dusk color was incredible.

After the sun had set, we grabbed a great dinner with them at Hattie’s Chicken Shack, which is seriously the best fried chicken we have had since we left the south. If you haven’t tried it yet, go soon. It is SO good, and Kristin and Ira made amazing dinner companions. We really can’t wait to see them again! We hope everyone enjoyed these, and we can’t wait to show you their wedding photos next year!

You could tell Alyssa was used to modeling from the moment we started our shoot earlier this month. Not only was she decked out in a pretty dress and ridiculous heels but she was able to walk and manuever in tall grass in those heels. She also managed to get Ryan to bring his GQ best to the shoot. Even though we had to reschedule due to rain, we finally managed to get a day with some of the most beautiful light we have ever gotten for an e-shoot. Saratoga Springs is so full of amazing locations to shoot at We did managed to get chased away from one of the places we shot at, but it was well worth it for these shots!

We really appreciated their flexibilty with their schedule even though they had to miss their weekly dinner with Ryan’s family. They allowed us to wander around and pretty much look for beautiful light and backgrounds. These two totally worked it for the camera, and we LOVE these images!

We can’t wait for their beautiful May 2012 wedding at Birch Hill for what we are sure will be the wedding of the century. Birch Hill is a gorgeous location so stay tuned for some awesome pictures from that.  In the meantime, enjoy some pictures in the pretty light while we in upstate NY are preparing for an October nor’easter on a gray and chilly day.

Welcome back to the second half Kim and Jesse’s awesome engagement session in Northampton, MA! We continue here with some more awesome treats for your eyeballs. After hanging out at the candy store you saw in the last post, we wandered around the rest of Downtown Northampton and ended up in what was quite possibly the coolest bar we’ve been in in a LONG time. It’s actually an old train tunnel that has been converted into a bar. An empty, really cool bar is always awesome for a few cool shots. Kim and Jesse were game for anything and they got some amazing shots because of it!

The best thing about Kim and Jesse’s session was not only getting to see new locations and hang out with them but we also got to learn more about them. Kim used to go to Sweetie’s with her dad and we loved hearing about the time they spent there together. We also got to see the place where they got engaged. Additionally, we also learned some new lingo –  did you know that Northampton is referred to as “NoHo” by the locals? We didn’t before, but we certainly do now! Not to mention that Lisa got to try out incorporating “wicked” into her everyday lingo. Overall, it was a pretty amazing session and we hope you enjoy it!

We shot a wedding here at the Hotel Northampton last year, and really love the place!

Of course, we had to move across the street and shoot in front of the Calvin. So many cool shows at this place, and it’s so big a part of downtown NoHo.

Abby and Jack are the kind of couple that you immediately feel comfortable being around. They met at a party and now the rest as they say is history! Abby and Jack are in the middle of restoring their house in time to host their September wedding and we can’t wait to see it. They have been incredibly busy but we are so happy that they managed to squeeze in session with us on the hottest day of the year. Even we, as former Floridians, were melting, so you KNOW it was hot.

They are funny and know how to kick up their heels and have a good time. They managed still have fun in the heat and enjoy each others company. We were at the Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs with some beautiful light and we even got a chance to cool off in the creek. Abby and Jack- we hope you got to enjoyed your air conditioning and redbox movie. We hope you love these photos as much as we do! Be sure to  come back tomorrow to hear the story of their proposal and the second half of their images!

So normally lenses fogging up do to a change in temperature is a major problem for us when shooting winter weddings, moving from the cold outdoors into a heated reception site. I’d never had it happen in the summer, till this day. The heat index was somewhere around 105. Of course, we cranked the car AC as low as it would go, so when we stepped outside, all our lenses fogged up! Luckily, I kind of like the dreamy effect it gave this image:

Hope everyone is ready for the Part 2 of Kelly and Brian’s HOT New York City E-session. Yesterday, we showed off some shots from the Meatpacking District and the Brooklyn Bridge. We’re really thrilled with the awesome shots we got there, and as much fun as we had, it only got better from there. Once we finished on the Brooklyn Bridge, we walked back to their place in the Financial District to go spend a little time with their puppy Georgia. She was totally loving us and was seriously one of the happiest and sweetest dogs we’ve worked with, and there have been a LOT of furry friends in our recent engagement sessions! After taking Georgia for a walk, we headed up to their rooftop deck to catch the sunset. There are few things out there as cool as a rooftop in New York City, so we absolutely had to shoot there, and the sunset didn’t disappoint.

After the sun set, we headed down to the seaport to grab a bite to eat. One of the things we love about hanging out with Kelly and Brian is they always know the best places to go, and they make pretty incredible dinner companions as well! We ate at the cutest little New Zealand restaurant (apparently, New Zealandish isn’t a word, so I have no proper adjective to describe it), and then headed back into town for some night pictures, where else but the iconic Times Square. That place is like a photographers dream, because it really is lit up like daytime even late at night. We absolutely got some of our favorite engagement shots ever there, and we really want to show some off, so here they are!

Time for these two lovebirds to bid us farewell and head home. We can’t wait till their wedding in September!

Sometimes, you meet a couple who just exude sheer joy when they’re around each other. Their smiles beam and it’s impossible for them to hide their love for each other. Kelly and Brian are exactly that couple. We loved this couple the instant we met them, and we totally have a blast every time we’re around them. That, and they always take us to the greatest spots on NYC to eat, so that’s pretty awesome too! These two will be getting married this September at the Crooked Lake House, but they live in a killer place in the financial district in NYC, so we headed down there to shoot them in the city they love. Kelly and Brian were totally awesome in front of the camera (doesn’t hurt that they are a GREAT looking couple) and they were so awesome and patient with us, and even went along with all our crazy ideas. We totally appreciate that, by the way!

We originally wanted to start the shoot in the West Village, where they used to live, but unfortunately we didn’t realize that the Pride Festival would be going on that day all around out shooting location, so we decided to hit up the Meatpacking District and the High Line Park instead. After walking the High Line and having some fun with the cobblestone streets and graffiti in the Meatpacking District, we headed over to the ever so iconic Brooklyn Bridge. This place is a must have for all our NYC couples it seems, and I can see why – it always makes for a gorgeous backdrop. We later headed back to their killer rooftop in the Financial District and the off to Times Square, but that will be saved for Part 2 of this session! For now, just enjoy some of the hotness that was Kelly and Brian’s session!
