We’re so excited to share Desiree and Zak’s Lake Luzerne and Lake George engagement session with you today! Like they say in Grease, summer lovin’ is a blast, but for Zak and Desiree a friend’s summer party was just the beginning of their story. In the car at drive in movies, lots of dinners, and even some fireworks, they spent the summer getting to know each other as friends. In the natural and easy way that friendships become love stories two months later they both realized that this was more than a friendship and their first kiss cemented their relationship. Though they didn’t know what twists and turns life would bring, they enjoyed the ride.
After a few years they moved in together into a fixer upper house. If you know anything about home renovations then you realize that they are a true test of the strength of relationship. They passed that test with flying colors as well as many other tests over the years. Marriage was never on the table because Zak used to say he “would never get married” but perhaps that is because he hadn’t met someone like Desiree. Love is about caring for someone more than yourself and through a major medical emergency their love and caring shone through as their bright light in the darkness that surrounded them. They pulled through with the same love and caring they used to get through fixing up their house.
After a while Zak changed from never wanting to get married to wanting to marry Desiree. They both love the Longhorn restaurant in Lake Luzerne, and that is where you will find them every Friday night. One night during dinner Zak was listening to Desiree as she filled him in on the family vacation he missed. He told her that he would make it up to her and when she asked how, he scooted his chair back, *tried* to somewhat get on one knee but he was against the wall, and said “I could ask you to marry me.” and pulled out the exact ring that she had tried on and fallen in love with not one month before. Which brings us to their engagement session where we headed to the beach at Lake Luzerne and took some pictures with their dog Shelby and then got them out on a canoe. For our second outfit we headed to Canoe Island Lodge in Lake George where we of course had to rock some dock photos. We can’t wait for their wedding at Brant Lake in September!
The day started off rainy, but we wanted to get a nice family portrait anyway!
After a little bit the rain let up and we ditched the umbrella.
This was only the second time we got Shelby to look at us that day!
Beautiful Lake Luzerne. We love the Adirondacks.
Canoe time!
The Facebook teaser. I always love the love that people give these on our page!
This one made for a perfect black and white.
Showing off the bling.
I loved this little park across the street from the beach. Awesome waterfalls and creek!
Off to Lake George!
The one little piece of blue sky we saw that day!
Loving the way the clouds are drifting over the mountain tops.
All the lovin’ made this day seem not as dreary as it looked!
Let’s play kick some water at the photographer!
Yep, still in our silhouette phase.
Thanks for checking these out and we can’t wait to show you their wedding photos soon! Stay tuned for more coming your way from all our other great sessions that are blowing up the blog these next few weeks!
