Just like the movies some blog posts deserve a sequel! Earlier this year I had a post on how to have an amazing engagement session which you can check out at http://www.scottkretschmann.com/blog/how-to-have-an-amazing-engagement-session-albany-ny-wedding-photography/ if you haven’t seen it yet. Now I am back to bring you some more good advice on how to have the best engagement session possible. The first step is of course to hire some awesome photographers, but you already knew that right? Now sit back and enjoy some advice on how to make the most out of your session!
1.) Pick a location that really says something about who you are as a couple:
Kristin and Ira love to read, so the bookstore was the perfect fit!
2.) Bring along some items that show off your personalities or fit your engagement session (need ideas? shoot your photographer a message!)
Michelle and Mike used some of their mugs filled with apple cider for their session at Indian Ladder Farms!
3.) Don’t be afraid to get close and intimate. It makes for some amazing shots!
This photo is seriously swoonworthy!
4.) It’s your day so the let the pros pamper you by doing your hair and makeup! The photos will be so much more amazing, we promise.
They are this cute in real life. True story. Lipstick N’ Lashes totally hooked her up!
5.) You are in love so feel free to show off and have a little fun!
Our couples are so adorable….I have some serious love for this picture!
5.) When in doubt…You should always just kiss!
Even in 100+ degree heat they are adorable!
6.) At any given time we may just say “Ooohhh light” and walk to a point unknown…Follow us to get some amazing pictures!
The light, the colors, the couple….absolutely gorgeous!
7.)If something unexpected happens during your session…just go with it! You hired a pro so let us worry about it!
I love this picture…The rain makes it seriously romantic add in some killer light and you have the formula for great pictures!
8.) Relax, have fun and keep each other laughing:
The yellow stairs at the Saratoga Racetrack are a classic!
9.) Man’s best friend makes for some pretty cute pictures!
Georgia is definitely the star of this family!
10.) Sometimes it will rain so if it happens just relax, focus on each other and enjoy!
Rain+Umbrella+reflection+romantic dip+city skyline+one amazing couple=Too beautiful for words!
11.) At any point during the session we may drop to the ground but don’t worry we are totally ok!
Knees covered in dirt are always worth it for shots like this!
12.) Lisa’s tip of the day: Watch a funny movie the night before your session. You will be laughing all day as you quote lines and moments from the movie.
They were laughing and smiling like this all day long!
13.) Pick clothes that are cute AND comfortable. Feel free to express yourself!
Erin wore her grandmother dress. That is vintage at its best!
14.) Unusual locations= Cool pictures
This bar is in an old train tunnel…Seriously. How cool is that?
15.) If you are stumped for a location or a look just ask your photographers!
Ashley and Pat really wanted snow so we searched high and low to find some!
