A few weeks ago we wandered all around Boston for Patty and Chris’ engagement session. Despite the fact that our feet were killing us by the end of the day, we had an absolute blast seeing all the sites and getting to know this truly amazing couple during their Boston engagement session. Here’s a little bit about the couple that will have you love them as much as we do.
We haven’t met many people (no one in fact) who fell in love along the Nile River, but for a couple like Chris and Patty, it is par for the course in their adventurous relationship. The start of their adventure began at the age of 16 when they began planning to go on an international trip with a group called People to People Student Ambassadors. There were two trips to choose from and they both decided that it would be really nice to do the same one, and that between the British Isles and Egypt, Egypt was the opportunity not to miss. So they traveled there together during the summer of 2000 and although they weren’t dating yet, they fell in love along the Nile. It was the start of their adventure filled life together. A short time later they went on their first official date and Patty took Chris to Shalimar Indian restaurant in Albany and introduced him to his second love, Chicken Tikka Masala.
It was only natural that last March after adventures all around the world and eventually starting a life in Boston that Chris would want to make sure they were adventure partners forever. Patty was near the end of her Masters program and Chris had decided to take the opportunity to join his sister and friends in Puerto Rico (Patty was just a little bit jealous, but what was she to do?). Two weeks before her final exam and Chris’ trip, he surprised Patty with tickets down to Puerto Rico to join them for the remaining week after her exam finished up. Before Patty got on the plane she was reminded to check the mail so it didn’t build up for a whole week, which she had completely forgotten to do with the test being so overwhelming, and there she found a treasure map. The map showed the route from Boston down to Puerto Rico and the location where they would stay. Patty thought it was a very sweet post-exam surprise. They got to spend a few beautiful days with friends and a final night on their own on the beautiful island of Culebra, where they mutually decided that a sunset with some wine was the right move for the night. So it was at sunset that Chris produced another treasure map (which Patty initially mistook for the one she had received back in Boston), which showed the very beach they sat on that evening, with a big “X” on the beach. Chris told Patty that “X marks the spot” and that she had to find to her treasure… literally, and pointed to the sand next to her, which suddenly had a big x drawn in it. So she dug and found a little treasure chest, with a scroll inside that said “I love you”. Chris then got down on one knee and presented a beautiful ring and asked Patty to marry him. And she said yes, of course![]()
They begin their next big adventure of marriage at the Crooked Lake House this July. Before that though we drove out to Boston for an engagement session as epic as this amazing couple. They of course had to bring along the cutest accessory ever – an awesome green Vespa. after some adventuring in Beacon Hill we headed to the North End, Boston Harbor and ended with an amazing sunset at the Esplanade after a walk through the Common and the Public Garden. They ended the session by taking us to Tico, an amazing tapas restaurant, and then we grabbed a few more pictures on their rooftop before driving home. Check out the Boston engagement session awesomeness below.
Starting off with some dancing on their rooftop deck in Beacon Hill. We knew then that this session was going to rock.
A Vespa. The best engagement session prop. Ever.
A little variation on showing off the bling:
You can’t shoot a Boston engagement session in Beacon Hill without a stop by Acorn Street!
Gotta get the portrait for Mom and Dad!
Back for some more killer light on the Vespa:
I swear they look like models in some magazine ad:
Our favorite, and also our facebook teaser. Click here to see more of our teasers!
Love this one. We love reflections and mirrors!
Time to head across town to Christopher Columbus Park!
Can’t do a Boston engagement session without some shots at the harbor!
Hitting up the Carousel just outside the park.
I don’t know what I love most. The happy couple, the amazing light, or the expression of the girl in the background.
Warning…the light from here on out is KILLER!
The Boston Common gets pretty amazing sunset light.
Did we mention our love of reflections?
Off to the Boston Public Garden. More awesome sunset light.
Gonna mix it up with a little black and white action.
Our final sunset destination: The esplanade. Sunset over the Charles River? Yes please!
The Esplanade dock was crazy crowded, but we worked it out!
Are we in Venice? Nope. That is in fact a gondola on the Charles River.
There is just something I love about a great silhouette.
A little night time action after dinner.
We had so much fun on this session and are so psyched about their wedding next month! Stay tuned to the blog, there will be much more of this amazing couple showing up soon!
